Description
Indications for testing
The Gyne Profile – Female is indicated for women experiencing symptoms such as abnormal vaginal discharge, itching, odor, or pelvic pain. It is also recommended for routine screening or follow-up in women with a history of recurrent infections, those who are sexually active, or individuals preparing for surgery or other medical procedures.
What can be detected?
The Gyne Profile – Female includes two main components:
Female Genital Swab Culture: Identifies and analyzes the presence of various bacteria and fungi that can cause infections in the female genital tract. This culture specifically tests for Candida spp. (a common cause of yeast infections), Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus agalactiae (Group B Streptococcus), and Gardnerella vaginalis. A Gram examination is also performed to provide further details on the microbial flora.
STI PCR Panel: Detects specific genetic material from sexually transmitted pathogens. This includes:
Chlamydia trachomatis: Identifies the bacterium responsible for chlamydia infections.
Neisseria gonorrhoeae: Detects the bacteria causing gonorrhea.
Mycoplasma genitalium: Identifies this less common but significant STI pathogen.
Trichomonas vaginalis: Detects the parasite responsible for trichomoniasis.
Who is this test for?
The Gyne Profile – Female is suitable for women with symptoms suggesting a gynecological infection or STI. It is also beneficial for those undergoing routine health checks, women with multiple sexual partners, or anyone experiencing recurrent infections or abnormal gynaecological symptoms.
Fasting requirements
